CCG Make Pioneering Start on GHA New Build
28 Dec 2007
Communities and Sport Minister, Stewart Maxwell has visited the site of Glasgow Housing Association’s first new build homes and met some of the young apprentices recruited from the local area who will be working on the project.
The £24.5 million development marks the first phase of GHA’s new-build programme.
Work commenced on all three sites on January 7 2008.
The 239 new homes being built in Phase I will help re-house tenants living in properties earmarked for demolition in the Red Road and Sighthill regeneration areas.
Communities and Sport Minister Stewart Maxwell, said: "I am delighted to be launching the first phase of GHA's New Build Programme, which will provide more homes for individuals and families locally.
"This development will help to regenerate North Glasgow, and as well as providing brand new homes for tenants it will benefit the wider community by offering apprenticeships to local people."
