A total of 28 new ‘net zero ready’ affordable homes are being constructed across Braehead and Campbell Street, southeast of Alexandria town centre.
Across the two locations, there are homes specifically designed to accommodate wheelchair users, with a mix of one- to seven-bedroom properties catering to larger families.
Convenor of Housing and Communities, Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal, said: “There has been a significant amount of work undertaken to get to this stage, and it is great to see the houses starting to take shape.
“The range of homes is extensive and will suit a variety of tenants.”
Vice Convener of Housing and Communities, Councillor Hazel Sorrell, said: “This year has been busy already for the development of new Council homes, and it is brilliant to be able to see two more sites at the start of their development, which will help provide the homes needed for our tenants.”
Braehead and Campbell Street are the latest in a long line of projects delivered by CCG on behalf of West Dunbartonshire Council, now representing 10 developments, 451 homes and over £100m in investment since 2018.
Both projects were directly awarded through the SPA H2 Framework, and they each adopt CCG’s ‘Net Zero Home’ build standard.
First utilised at the award-winning Clydebank East and later at the part–net zero, part-Passivhaus Pappert project, each home will offer advanced thermal performance through the use of CCG’s iQ Timber System and triple-glazed PVCu windows. Zero-emissions heating technologies and solar PV panels will also provide a renewable source of energy.
A range of community benefit initiatives will also be delivered during the course ot the respective construction programmes. Among them will be the creation of two jobs, two work placements, and participation in career-based events with local employability organisations and schools.
