The Council has an innovative Future Homes Project Board that draws its membership from internal Council Services as well as external partners such as the Ayrshire Roads Alliance, the Health and Social Care Partnership, and CCG’s own Developments team. Through our membership of the Board, CCG works collaboratively with the Council at a strategic level to take ownership of the process to deliver homes for East Ayrshire’s residents that are future-proofed and fit for purpose with a focus on accessibility and specification.
The assisted living model of care being delivered offers support to adults with a range of disabilities to promote successful movement from care and other settings to each resident’s own accessible, social-rented home. This person-centred approach supports independent living for residents and offers a community-based response that is appropriate, sustainable and resource-efficient.
Andrew Nisbet Court comprises 13 self-contained flats, including 6 wheelchairs accessible, and 7 general needs, self-contained one-bedroom flat types. The on-site care provider, The Richmond Fellowship, also has a base set within the building offering dedicated, 24-hour services.
Wet rooms, rise-and-fall kitchen worktops, ovens and hobs [in the wheelchair-accessible flats], assistive technologies and internal break-out space are also provided. The glass elevation has also been created to create a sense of space and light, whilst an enclosed garden area, located within an enclosed courtyard, has been designed exclusively for the residents’ private use to promote horticultural therapy and community integration.
CCG utilised our ‘iQ’ Timber System for the build, which was interated with our own internal, flat entrance [FD30 flamebreak], common and close entry door sets. All renewable services were provided by Group member, Arc-Tech (Scotland) Ltd.
Andrew Nisbet Place aided in the delivery of one full-time job, two work placements, curriculum support for Ayrshire College and a donation of £3,000 to local community groups.
