Calderwood Lodge, Newlands

Located in an elevated position overlooking Newlands Park in the southside of Glasgow, ‘Calderwood Lodge’ is a development of 20 luxury homes that blends historical conservation with contemporary new build design.

The site dates back to the mid-19th century, with a Victorian sandstone villa residing in place since the late 1800s that was utilised for residential purposes before forming part of Calderwood Lodge Primary School from the 1970s onwards.

The school shut down in 2019, before being purchased by CCG Homes the following year, with villa formiing a key part in the delivery of the masterplan, designed by Stallan Brand. The building has since been sympathetically converted to provide four two-bedroom apartments that retain period features while delivering modern building performance. A new build ‘mews’ style three-bedroom home forms is situated adjacent on the western elevation, while a three-storey former classroom block was demolished to make way for a further 11 two-and three-bedroom apartments.

Calderwood Lodge was successfully sold out in 2024.
