Linthouse Tenements Windows and Doors, Glasgow

The CCG Group has worked with Linthouse Housing Association for over a decade, supporting both the association with new build housing delivery as well as large-scale planned maintenance programmes to their tenemental housing stock

Located in south Glasgow, Linthouse is a district of Govan, and Linthouse Housing Association manages in the region of 1200 (mostly) tenemental flatted dwellings

CCG has long supported the association with the upgrading of their housing stock, including comprehensive reconfigurations and stone repairs, to component replacement in the form of windows and doors.

The latest phase of works to be completed across multiple addresses was granted to CCG on a direct award basis as a two-lot contract comprising the installation of 1800 PVCu Victorian Sliders and CCG PVCu window sets, as well as FD30 Flat Entrance Doors to 692 residences.

Seen as a significant step forward to future-proofing the association’s tenemental housing stock, the contract was green-lit thanks to £3.7m grant funding support from the Scottish Government’s Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund.

A mix of double- and triple-glazed, vertical sliding sash windows from Victorian Sliders, one of the UK’s largest sash window suppliers, were specified for the front elevations of the tenements, while CCG’s product offering is installed to the rear elevations overlooking common closes.

The window style is in keeping with the surrounding area’s built heritage, but rather than using timber, the principal material is PVCu, a highly durable form of thermoplastic that is not prone to weathering or rot. This performance will support Linthouse’s long-term maintenance requirements as well as their tenants, thanks to a significant uplift in thermal performance.

The new FD30 flat entrance door sets were supplied by CCG. Fabricated using solid timber, the door leaf and frame are assembled entirely at CCG’s HQ in Cambuslang before being installed by CCG Asset Management. Each door is fully BM Trada and Q Mark certified and will offer a 30-minute fire performance rating.
