Timber Frame Designer (Offsite Manufacturing)

We have been a leading fabricator of enhanced closed panel timber systems since 2010. Our product — known as ‘iQ’ — is one of the most advanced of its kind in the UK and is manufactured under some of the most sophisticated offsite construction conditions in the country, from our £12 million, 130,000 sq. ft. facility, CCG OSM, located in Glasgow.

The OSM division and iQ product are currently supporting the delivery of 1200 low carbon and ‘net zero ready’ homes, as well as a number of care homes – ranging from 50 to 60 beds – across the Central Belt.

CCG OSM seeks an experienced Timber Frame Designer to assist with the day-to-day operations of the division and to progress the development of the OSM product and service.

SALARY: DOE, Competitive
HOURS: Full time, Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm (core flexible hours available)
LOCATION: CCG OSM, 2 Drumhead Road, Glasgow East Investment Park, Glasgow, G32 8EX.
STATUS: Permanent

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, good knowledge of design, excellent interpersonal skills, proficiency in the use of relevant design tools, and possess extensive knowledge of both timber frame design principles and on-site practical construction methods.

You must have a broad knowledge of all relevant technical standards and building regulations, as well as:

  • Capability to assist with Technical knowledge of the application of timber frame design across a variety of sectors – including social & private housing, low-rise & flatted developments, and commercial & industrial projects
  • Capability to check and sign off engineered floor joists and roof truss design drawings
  • Capability to liaise with external parties (engineers, architects & other design consultants, client bodies and supply chain members
  • Experience designing timber frame buildings using AutoCAD-based design software
  • Ability to produce quality manufacturing standard design outputs, within a busy environment, to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
  • A knowledge of closed panel timber frame and designing for automated production is preferred but not essential
  • Full driving licence required
